about

This album began as a senior portfolio project, which expanded after I graduated. The concept was to create a list of common music cues for video game soundtracks and write a track for each of them. By the end, I had 60 tracks that comprised a sort of hypothetical video game soundtrack.

Heavily influenced by Square and Nintendo games from the 90s and early 2000s, the tone lands somewhere between Final Fantasy and Zelda (with some other random nods thrown in).

Looking back, the production is not on par with my current work. I can also see that I missed an opportunity to utilize recurring themes that would tie the project together (each track pretty much exists in its own bubble). But as a labor of love, it still feels very special to me, so I thought I would share it.

Also, I wrote some self-indulgent notes for each track. Some of it is composer talk (music theory and whatnot), some of it pinpoints influences, and some of it is just memory. You can find these by clicking through the link to each track.

Hope you enjoy!
